Where on Earth is Middle Earth?

Here I am again with some tips on how to use the web to save time and money. I came across this website with Cheap Hotels in Auckland, Cheap Hotels in Wellington and Hotels in Christchurch and I would like to share with you.

Auckland is a lively city, modern, with thousands of events, and things to see and do.

Also has the Sky Tower, it is 328 metres tall, as measured from ground level to the top of the mast, making it the tallest free-standing structure in the Southern Hemisphere.

And New Zealand has one of the most beautiful views in the world.

Orlando, Disney, Beaches

Andre always asks to go to Disney. Ok, as a Geek mother, I always thought Disney could be quite boring.

But, I’ve been changing my mind.

At Disneyland's Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, guests fire lasers at aliens jumping from craters, with final scores tabulated and a Space Ranger ranking issued at the ride's end. At Epcot's Mission: Space, guests play the roles of different astronauts and manipulate the ride experience through switchboards. You can explore The Seas with Nemo & Friends or be a part of the Circle of Life from Lion’s King.

By the way, do you know what EPCOT means? The Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow. What could be more geek than this?

And now I found these great Orlando Villas with several places to stay. Fancy, isn't it?

A Geek and fancy holiday!

Verizon RAZR

Geek Sister Alert!!!

Great deals with great gadgets!

New phones like the LG Mint Chocolate with service for free.

Deals change daily, but you can always find great wireless phones deals.

I'm completely in love wit this LG Red Cherry Chocolate. And it has great features.

Personally, the RAZR is one of my favorite cell phones, but the chocolate does actually impress me. Who doesn’t love Chocolate? An with this cell phone, why do I need an iPOD?

They are gorgeous, don't you think?

And there are all RAZR. I love the fact that its so slim, and compact, it's much easier to carry around in a pocket or handbag.

Well, I'm thinking to buy a new mobile anyway. It seems to be the perfect time for me! I buy a Verizon service and can choose a gorgeous RAZR Or LG Chocolate.

But which one? Mint or Red Cherry?

Salve Animals

I already talked to with about this here at my blog, but it's a really important subject, so, here I am again.

There's a website out there, really nice, where you can find a charity you trust and want to support: Charity Navigator

There you can browse by categories, find out more about your favorite charity financial health and even browse by best rated charities.

Well, my favorite charity is WSPA and I will talk a bit about them.

I was visiting WSPA website, and reading about bile's bears. I was trying to understand why in the world they need bile's bears.

So I made my homework.
Bear bile has been used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) for over 3000 years. It used to aid ailments ranging from fevers to heart disease.
But, you need to keep the bear alive, producing this bile.

How they do it?
Catheters
The catheter is inserted through a hole, cut in the bear‘s abdomen, and attached to the gall bladder. The outer end is left to protrude from the bear‘s abdomen by several centimetres.

Fistulae or ‘Free Dripping Technique‘
Bile is collected by inserting a rod through the fistula towards the gall bladder, which then drains its content. To prevent the fistula from closing up the wound must be constantly re-opened - usually once or twice a day.

Hypodermic Syringe

The most common method of bile extraction in Vietnam involves the use of ultrasound equipment to locate the gall bladder. Once located a long syringe is inserted into the bear‘s abdomen to puncture the gall bladder. The bile is then siphoned off into a collecting jar. Repeated puncturing of the gall bladder can lead to infection with many bears dying of peritonitis.

Surgery

In some cases, bears in Vietnam are subjected to crude surgery in which the gall bladder is accessed and bile extracted. Unsanitary conditions and poorly trained staff cause painful, infected wounds, following surgery. According to bear farmers in Vietnam, bears rarely survive more than 3 or 4 such procedures.

Ok, do you want to do something to help these bears and others animals from cruelty?

  • Send a letter to Chinese, Vietnamese and Korean Embassy in your country.
  • Help to spread the knowledgement about this question - talk to your friends and family.
  • Make a donation to support WSPA, following this link: WSPA aims to stop the farming of bears across Asia.
